Where is She From?

Spider-Gwen makes her first appearance in comic book ‘edge of the spider-verse #2 which is part of the spider-verse storyline. She also appeared in the movie ‘Spider-Man into the Spider-verse.

Why is She an Inspiration?

Spider-Gwen is an alternative universe spider superhero who got her powers from a radioactive spider bite.

Spider-Gwen is an inspiration to young girls everywhere – she’s a very smart teenage girl who is good at science and school work. Spider-Man is typically a male teenager, but Spider-Gwen proves that she can do everything that Spider-Man can, plus more. 

X-23

Also known as? 

Laura Kinney.

Where is She From?

X-23 makes her first comic book appearance in the 2003 Nyx #3. She is also known for her appearance in Marvel movie ‘Logan’.

Why is She an Inspiration?

X-23 is Wolverine’s daughter, a clone made from his stolen dna. She is a mutant with retractable claws in her hands and feet, as well as a healing factor.

Even with her mutant powers, she still manages to inspire people by showing that being different is okay and that not everyone is the same.

Scarlet Witch

Wanda Maximoff.

Where is She From?

Scarlet Witch first appeared in the X-men #4 comic book, and her first movie appearance was in the 2015 Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Why is She an Inspiration?

Scarlet Witch has magic reality-warping powers. She is a mutant, the daughter of Magneto and sister of Quiksilver.

Scarlet Witch started off on the side of the evil mutants, but eventually changed her mind and started using her powers for good. She has a very powerful ability and now works alongside the Avengers.

Overall, Scarlet Witch shows that there is good in people even when they struggle to find it themselves.

She-Hulk

Where is She From?

Jennifer Walters makes her first appearance as She-Hulk in 1980 in the comic book Savage She-Hulk #1.

Why is She an Inspiration?

She-Hulk gained her powers after receiving blood from Bruce Banner, her cousin, The Incredible Hulk. She can transform from She-Hulk back to her human form.

She has an undeniable strength but still has a passion for the law. So, while some superheroes break the law to save the world, She-Hulk uses a different approach – as a lawyer, she uses the law to put people to justice.

Wasp

Janet van Dyne.

Where is She From?

Wasp made her first appearance in comic book Tales to Astonish #44. Her first movie appearance was as Hope van Dyne, daughter of Janet van Dyne. The movie was released in 2018, and was called Ant-man and the Wasp.

Why is She an Inspiration?

In the movie Ant-Man, Hope had to watch as her dad trusted an ex-con with the suit and not her. However, when she gets her Wasp suit, she proves that she is just as good and can be a great superhero.

Black Widow

Where is She From?

Black Widow’s first comic book appearance was in 1964, in Tales of Suspense #52, while her first movie appearance was in Iron Man 2.

Why is She an Inspiration?

Black Widow has gone from being an orphan child to one of S.H.I.E.L.D’s deadliest assassins, and has also become one of the Avengers. With slow aging and superhuman durability, Black Widow is definitely an inspiration to kids who need a reminder that they can become anything they want if they just work hard enough.

Storm

Ororo Munroe.

Where is She From?

Her first comic book appearance was in May 1975. The comic book was called Giant-Size X-Men #1. Storm first appeared in the movie X-Men.

Why is She an Inspiration?

Because of her ability to manipulate the weather, fly, and be an expert tactician. Storm is one of the most powerful mutants, having gone from being a street thief (in the comic books) to becoming a leader. Storm’s legacy is freedom fighting and leadership.

Captain Marvel

Where is She From?

Captain Marvel made her first appearance in a comic book in December 1967, in Marvel Superheroes #12. After being referenced in the Avengers Infinity War, Captain Marvel had her first movie appearance in Captain Marvel.

Why is She an Inspiration?

Captain Marvel is an inspiration as one of Marvel’s most powerful heroes. Starting out as a fighter pilot then going on to survive a galactic war between two different alien species, she gains powers and becomes a superhero.

Hela

Also known as? 

Thor’s sister.

Where is She From?

Hela made her first appearance in comic books in March 1964, in Journey into Mystery #102. Hela made her first movie appearance in Thor Ragnarok in 2017. In the comic books, Hela is originally Loki’s daughter, whereas in the movie she is Odin’s daughter and Thor’s sister.

Why is She an Inspiration?

Odin and Hela fought to rule the realms, and while Odin stopped after nine realms, Hela wanted to continue. Hela is the goddess of death and one of the most powerful villains. She is also responsible for destroying Thor’s hammer mjölnir and for Thor losing an eye. She creates an army and destroys anything or anyone that gets in her way.

Pepper Potts

Virginia (Pepper) Potts.

Where is She From?

Pepper Potts is the CEO of Stark Industries, after starting as Tony Stark’s personal assistant and eventually becoming his wife and the mother of his child. Pepper Potts’ first appearance was in September 1963 in the comic book Tales of Suspense #45, and her first movie appearance was in Iron Man. 

Why is She an Inspiration?

Pepper is an inspiration by being CEO of Stark Industries. She is one of the most important people in the business and the company probably wouldn’t survive without her keeping everything under control. As well as doing her daily work, she also saved Tony Stark from the villain Aldrich Killian. Tony Stark made Pepper a suit of armor, and she then went by the name Rescue.

Invisible Woman

Susan Storm.

Where is She From?

Susan’s first appearance was in November 1961 as Invisible Girl in comic book Fantastic 4 #1, and then as Invisible Woman in November 1985, in comic book Fantastic 4 #284. Her first movie appearance was in Fantastic 4 in 1994, although it wasn’t officially released to the public. A new version was made in 2005.

Why is She an Inspiration?

When an experimental project goes wrong, the Fantastic 4 are formed. Susan has the ability to turn invisible and project an invisible force field. She went from being an ordinary girl who lost her parents, to a maternal figure for her brother Johnny, to becoming a powerful superhero.

Kate Bishop

Hawkeye.

Where is She From?

Her first appearance was in 2005 in the comic book Young Avengers #1.

Why is She an Inspiration?

After losing her mother and finding out that her father wasn’t a nice person, Kate got kidnapped and held for ransom. That was until The Avengers saved her, which was when Kate noticed that one of The Avengers had no real superpowers and she began to idolise him. So, the girl who felt like she lost everything tried hard and became Hawkeye for the Young Avengers.

Jane Foster

The Goddess of Thunder.

Where is She From?

Jane made her first appearance in September 1962 in the comic book Journey into Mystery #84, and in the movie Thor: Dark World in November 2013.

Why is She an Inspiration?

Jane Foster started out as an astronomer who soon becomes Thor’s girlfriend in the movie Thor: Dark World. In the comic books, she is also battling cancer and shows true leadership by putting her followers before her own health.

Valkyrie

Brunnhilde.

Where is She From?

Valkyrie makes her first appearance in December 1970 in the comic book The Avengers #83, and in 2017 in Thor: Ragnarok.

Why is She an Inspiration?

The Valkyries were once defeated by Hela but only one survived. Valkyrie is an inspiration as an amazing fighter and the first openly LGBTQ superhero. Valkyrie overcame her fears of fighting Hela and joined forces with Thor, Loki and the Hulk to defeat Hela and save Asgard and the Asgardians.

Mystique

Where is She From?

Mystique makes her first appearance in May 1978 in a cameo in Ms. Marvel #16, but made her first full appearance in July 1978 in Ms. Marvel #18. Her first movie appearance was in 2000 in X-Men.

Why is She an Inspiration?

Mystique is a shapeshifter who can take the form of any human, mutant, or animal, although she cannot copy their powers, she can still get what she wants. When she was a child, Raven’s parents couldn’t deal with her being a mutant and abused her until she finally ran away. She grew up learning that being different is ok, taking her form as Mystique.

Shuri

Also known as? 

Shuri is the princess of Wakanda. Shuri is Black Panther’s little sister.

Where is She From?

Her first appearance was in May 2005 in the comic book Black Panther #2, her first movie appearance was in Black Panther in 2018.

Why is She an Inspiration?

Shuri is not only a princess, but also the chief science officer of Wakanda. Shuri helps her brother T’Challa by making different inventions and an upgraded Black Panther suit.

Gamora

Also known as? 

Gamora is now part of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Where is She From?

Gamora made her first appearance in June 1975 in the comic book Strange Tales #180, and her first movie appearance was in Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014.

Why is She an Inspiration?

Gamora has gone from Thanos’ adopted daughter to a Guardian of the Galaxy. She was raised with the attempt to destroy half of the population and eventually learns the evil of her ways, going against Thanos and helping to save the world instead. Gamora even manages to convince her cyborg sister Nebula to help the world and go against Thanos.

Nebula

Nebula is Gamora’s cyborg sister and Thanos’ adopted daughter.

Where is She From?

Nebula made her first appearance in July 1985 in the comic book The Avengers #257 and made her first movie appearance in 2014 Guardians of the Galaxy.

Why is She an Inspiration?

Nebula is a warrior who was trained in combat with the intention of conquering other empires. She received some amazing cyborg updates that kept making her stronger and a better fighter. 

Jean Grey

Jean Grey-Summers is a mutant.

Where is She From?

She had her first appearance in September 1963 in the comic book X-Men #1, and her first movie appearance in 2000 in X-Men.

Why is She an Inspiration?

With unstable powers and her own demons to deal with, Jean is out of control and almost makes a huge mistake. But, as always, good triumphs and she ends up doing the right thing, in the process becoming more powerful. In the movies, Jean repeatedly gives her life to save others without a second thought.
