I love fashion. I’m sure a lot of people also feel the same way. There’s just something nice about dressing up in trendy clothes. It boosts my confidence and makes me feel like I look more beautiful. It’s a good way to brighten the day and to make busy days less stressful. However, many are complaining about fashionable items because they don’t always seem to be comfortable. Is fashion really supposed to be uncomfortable? I’d like to share my two cents on the matter.
The comfort that goes with fashion depends on many things. First, quality. If you’re investing in high quality clothing and shoes, they are bound to be more comfortable than cheaper ones. For example, expensive, but definitely high quality, heels can be worn all night long because they feel comfortable on your feet, while inexpensive counterparts may look good but have a crippling effect soon enough. The same goes for clothes. You may notice a low quality item easily being ruined, while a high quality one can last longer.
What I want people to realize is that there is a difference between being a fashion victim and a fashionable person. You can be fashionable with some comfortable items in your closet accessorized the right way; you are a fashion victim if you turn to everything you see in fashion magazines and wear them without really thinking if they fit you or make you look good. That cutout dress sure looks sexy, but do you feel comfortable while wearing it? What about that bondage swimsuit that has a lot of spare straps and takes ages to be worn? And what about those super high stiletto boots you can barely walk in? Yes, you can wear these things if you find them comfortable and fitting your personality, but you don’t have to put up with them just because they are fashionable even if you don’t like them.
So if you ask me, fashion can be comfortable if you know how to choose the ones that work for you. You can look fashionable in a pair of shorts and comfortable top, or you can dress up with a more glamorous dress and high heels. It depends on your style and preferences. But remember, fashion will be uncomfortable if you make it to be.
