Do you know all that sitting around the office all day is making you unfit and fat? That’s right – while you are there tapping away at your keyboard and waiting for the clock to signal it is time to go home, you are also accumulating fat and quite possibly straining your muscles due to non-movement. We were quite horrified when we realized this because we also spend a lot of time sitting at our desks, you see.
We didn’t take it sitting down, though, because we discovered some fabulous desk exercises that you can do in the office. Check them out below!
Magic carpet ride – This might sound like some strange activity you do in the desert but it is actually a simple exercise you can do in the office. What you do is you sit on your chair and cross your legs while placing your feet on your seat. Place your hands on the armrests and suck in your tummy as you raise a few inches off your set. Use your stomach muscles and your hands to hold the position for 20 seconds and rest for another 30. Do this 5 times to really work your core and your arms.
Wooden leg – Now that you have worked your core and your arms, it is time to work on your legs. What you do is sit on your chair while you extend one leg straight to the front and hold it for a couple of seconds. After two seconds, raise your leg as high as it can go and hold for another two seconds. Try to repeat the movement for 15 minutes on each leg.
Desk push-ups – This is a lot like doing push-ups at the gym where you are on the floor but instead of on the floor, you lean on your desk. Before you do this you need to make sure your desk is sturdy and your computer doesn’t fall off in case you lose your balance. You may also try this against a wall if you are afraid your desk will give up. Do two sets of 10.
We have tried these exercises and we absolutely love them! Give them a try and not only will you look better, but you will feel better about work, too!
