I like braids, I really do, but there are times when I want to step up the game. This means upgrading from a basic braid to something fancier and more eye-catching like a French braid or a Dutch braid. Sometimes, I like to take things a step further and make a milkmaid braid. It looks oh-so-sweet and innocent.
Making a milkmaid braid is not easy especially if it is your first time to do it. I know because I had a tough time at first but in just a couple of tries, I had the technique down pat! Check out some steps to make a milkmaid braid below!
Steps to Follow in Making a Milkmaid Braid
- The first thing you need to do is part down the middle of your hair. You might want to use a fine toothed comb for this just to make sure that your part is not messy.
- You will then have to braid those two parts. Some people choose to braid under for a Dutch style braid while some will choose the French braid. Others go with the standard braid. For our first time, we chose the simple braid.
- The next step is to pull one of the completed braids over the other ear and secure in place with a bobby pin or two.
- Pull the other braid over the first and pull the ends to the back of the head. Use a bobby pin to hold the tail in place. You may use several pins for a more secure feel. Remember to tuck in the braid ends to make it look neater.
- If it still feels a bit loose, you may add as many pins as you want and even use hairspray to make sure it stays up and stays neat.
Reminders
If you want to dress up this braid even more, you may want to add some flowers or crystal accents although it is plenty fancy on its own. One thing to remember is that this is a hair style that is mostly suited for girls with longer hair.
